Las Cruces - Police arrested a Las Cruces woman Tuesday evening after learning that she stabbed her boyfriend during a heated argument.
Yvette Garcia, 46, is charged with one count of aggravated battery against a household member.
Police responded to the woman’s apartment on Oak Street and found the 48-year-old victim suffering from a stab wound to his upper back. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Detectives learned that Garcia and the victim were arguing over a number in her cell phone. At some point during the argument, the victim tried to leave the apartment when Garcia followed and struck him with a knife.
Garcia fled on foot but was detained a short while later with the assistance of a Las Cruces Police K-9 unit.
Garcia was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000.
