EL PASO — NewsChannel 9 continues its "What's on the Ballot Series", with Tuesday's focus on Proposition 2.
It will ask voters if they want....
"THE ISSUANCE OF $228,250,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS FOR MUSEUM, CULTURAL, MULTI-PURPOSE PERFORMING ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT AND LIBRARY FACILITIES IMPROVEMENTS, INCLUDING NEW CHILDREN'S MUSEUM, CULTURAL HERITAGE CENTER AND INTERACTIVE DIGITAL WALL."
Proposition 2 is going to cost about $12.90 extra a year for a $100,000 home.
The majority of this money, $180 million, will be going towards a multi-purpose performing arts center that will be larger than the Don Haskins Center and the County Coliseum.
That leaves only $48 million for the rest of those projects, which include a new 30,000 square-foot Children's Museum, a 3D Digital Wall that will be the first of its kind in the United States, and improvements to our libraries.
Just how much will our libraries see?
NewsChannel 9's Adrienne Alvarez sits down with the Director of Libraries to find out.
