More Than 300 Birds Removed From Home
Hundreds of birds were removed from a man's home in Aurora, Illinois Friday morning. The homeowner had been given a chance to remove the birds himself, but when he failed to make it happen city officials sent crews to take the 325 birds.
The birds included parakeets, cockatiels and doves. One-hundred twenty five dead birds were also found in the house.
The man who owns the home says he started with eight birds several years ago. Then, they multiplied to a level, which he admitted, became unacceptable living conditions for the birds.
The captured birds were taken to a shelter, where they will be checked out, quarantined for 30 to 60 days, then put up for adoption. City officials have not decided what penalties or fines, if any, the homeowner will face.
