EL PASO — Three families were displaced by a fire at a far east El Paso apartment complex. Investigators said the fire was caused by an electrical problem.
The fire started at the Trevino Place Apartments on Edgemere near Lee Trevino at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
A firefighter said it started in a bedroom on the second floor.
A family of four was inside the apartment at the time.
"It was a mother and her children that were inside. They were alerted by the smoke alarm so it allowed them time to evacuate without any harm," said Lt. Michael Bell with the El Paso Fire Department.
About 35 firefighters acted quickly to put out the fire.
No one was hurt.
The Red Cross helped the families displaced by the fire.
