After four decades of service, Customs and Border Protection honored a very special employee on Tuesday. Gene Tipton turns 80-years old this July. After retiring from a career with the railroad, Gene joined CBP and that is where he has come to work every day for the past 40-years. Over the years, Gene has worked at several ports of entry. Although he no longer pounds the pavement in the field, his co-workers say he has become an even bigger asset as a safety officer and "unofficial handyman." Gene says getting up and going to work everyday is what keeps him young and healthy. As for retiring - he says he'll think about it in about a year.
