The network Showtime was in Las Cruces this past Wednesday to film for their series "All Access", a documentary style show that goes beyond the ring and into the lives of the boxers that are scheduled to fight on their network. Their focus was on Las Cruces' own WBA Junior Middleweight Champion, Austin "No Doubt" Trout. Trout will have the biggest match of his career against one of the sports greatest, Miguel Cotto. The fight will be held in New York at prestigious Madison Square Garden on December 1, 2012 and will be televised on Showtime.
The Showtime crew followed Trout and his trainer Louie Burke as they prepared for their fight at the Sammy Burke Youth Boxing Center. During an interview, Trout spoke on how important the gym was to him growing up. The gym is home to the Las Cruces Police Athletic League (PAL) Boxing Club. A program that takes at risk youth off the streets and teaches them decline through boxing. Trout started boxing with Las Cruces PAL when he was 10-years-old.
The air date for the show has yet to be announced, but look for it in late November.
