In the first road match of the 2012 WAC season, the New Mexico State soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss at Louisiana Tech.
The Aggie defense (1-9-3, 0-2-1) continued its strong play against the Lady Techsters (10-1-3, 1-0-1). NM State has only allowed two goals in three conference contests this year.
"Unfortunately, we didn't show up to play in the first half," head coach Blair Quinn said. "Our goalkeeper made a mistake on the goal, and even though we were better in the second half, we can't afford to make any mistakes, because we are not good enough to overcome them right now."
In a tightly contested game, the Aggies and Lady Techsters combined for seven shots on goal with sophomore forward Jennae Cambra leading the Crimson and White with a pair of shots on goal. Defensively, junior goalkeeper Mikaela Bitner recorded three saves in 90 minutes of action.
In the final minutes of the first half, Louisiana Tech broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 39th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
The Aggies return home to meet Denver, Friday, Oct. 12 at 3 p.m. in Las Cruces.
