El Paso — Airline baggage fees have cost Americans a whopping 1.7 billion dollars within the first six months of this year alone - that's according to a new government report.
The Bureau of Transportation says it's a record breaking number. From January until June, Delta Airlines raked in the most money - collecting nearly 430 million dollars in baggage fees.
The airline charges travelers 25 dollars for the first checked bag and 35 dollars for the second.
