LAS CRUCES — New Mexico State University president Barbara Couture remained on a leave of absence as of Wednesday.
School officials remained tightlipped as to why, but the university did release the following statement:
“While President Barbara Couture is on leave, New Mexico State University policy states that it is the role of the executive vice president and provost to serve as the chief administrative officer. The day-to-day business of NMSU continues under the direction of each unit vice president or college dean.
This comes after a closed session meeting between the regents Saturday at NMSU. The purpose for the meeting was to discuss "confidential personnel matters, and threatened or pending litigation."
