EL PASO — A bizarre turn of events in the Congressional U.S.. Representative District 16 Race, as burglars broke into Republican candidate Barbara Carrasco's campaign office.
It happened Tuesday night. The office was ransacked. Carrasco's campaign staff was surprised but also relieved because they don't leave any campaign funds in the office overnight.
"I was stunned. I was shocked, extremely disappointed as you can imagine but it's a bump in the road and that's ok. we're focused on November and this is just one day in the road," said Rep. Barbara Carrasco.
Running mate Beto O'Rourke commented on the burglary, sending his condolences to Carrasco.
"I think it's really unfortunate and for her sake. I hope they are able to get to the bottom of it and you know we're opponents in this campaign but personally I think she's a very nice person and I wish her the best and I hope they're able to resolve this,” said O'Rourke.
We have not heard back from the El Paso Police Department on the status of the investigation.
