Kmart is now taking park in the lay-a-way wars. Last week, Wal Mart and Toys R Us upped their promotion for easy lay-a-way plans and now Kmart is doing the same.
K-mart is waving lay-a-way fees in stores and online through November 17th. Customers usually pay $5 for an eight-week contract, and $10 for a 12-week lay-a-way. Kmart executives say this move isn't in response to competitors, and the company had already been testing the no-fee program.
Kmart's sister company, Sears, is also set to follow suit.
