EL PASO — It was three, two, one lift-off Wednesday on the UTEP campus as a new space research center is now up and running. NASA has teamed up with the college to open the Center for Space Exploration Technology Research.
Researchers at the center will study and test things like propulsion, solar energy, and clean power generation. "A lot of people have this perception of NASA goes to the moon and space and that's it but there's just so much to the science and exploration," said Zenia Garcia, a grad student at UTEP.
UTEP students will certainly benefit from the center. 24 UTEP students have held internships at NASA facilities over the last two years.
