Heavy smokers have double the risk for a potentially fatal brain aneurysm. Researchers in Korea compared more than 400 patients who had a massive aneurysm to an equal number of healthy adults.
They found more smokers suffered aneurysms and the risk increased as the number of cigarettes smoked each day went up. Most of the people who quit smoking lowered their risk, except for those who had twenty or more cigarettes a day.
