Del Valle football has grown into a new powerhouse in the city of El Paso. The conquistadors have taken District 2-4A by storm, going 18-1 in the District the past three years. Last season, Del Valle was 9-2, but lost in the Bi-District round of the playoffs for the first time in five years. The previous four years, Del Valle were Bi-District champs.
This season, Del Valle returns 15 starters, and with 28 seniors, Head Coach Jesse Perales is not worried about breaking in 6-5 Sophomore quarterback Steven Montez.
"We feel like he is very special and he has some talent, but he has a good surrounding cast around him, and he has playmakers, he doesn't have to do it all on his own," Perales said of Montez. Senior Linebacker and Tight End Judas Contreras added, "I'm pretty sure we're unstoppable, and we can accomplish great things this year, because we have the talent, we have the size, and we have enough dedication and heart."
Saturday, September 1, Del Valle opens the season against Everman in Sweetwater, Texas.
