EL PASO — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at El Paso ports of entry made a dozen drug busts this weekend.
Officers seized more than a thousand pounds of marijuana in 10 busts, 17 pounds of cocaine, and a small amount of heroin in one additional seizure.
The most significant bust was at the Santa Teresa port of entry inside a GMC pickup.
A drug-sniffing dog alerted officers to the engine area of the truck where CBP officers removed nine cocaine-filled bundles from the engine.
Officers arrested a Mexican citizen who was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.
