SOCORRO — Socorro looks a little like Hollywood this week. A documentary film crew is in the area to make a film called "21 Outs." It's about Socorro's 2009 state championship baseball team. The Bulldogs impressive run to the state title garnered attention throughout Texas and ended a more than 50 year state baseball championship drought in El Paso County.
The documentary is the work of local film maker Charlie Minn who is perhaps best known for his films "Nightmare in Las Cruces" and "Eight Murders a Day."It's real. It's raw. It's right out there with the real players, the real coaches, the real fans, the real family members. When you do a feature film you have to have actors that will play them so everything here will be right down the middle. It's the real deal," said Mimm.
The documentary precedes a film that's also being made about the team. It's also called "21 Outs." A release date is planned for early November.
