EL PASO — The Texas Education Agency dealt a big blow to the El Paso Independent School District.
The district was officially placed on probation, meaning it's at risj of losing it's state accreditation status, unless it makes major improvements in the near future.
School distict officials said they were expecting this move from the state. The actions stem from corruption in the district. Former superintendent Lorenzo Garcia pleaded guilty of stealing thousands of dollars from taxpayers and also admitted to changing test scores in order to get more government money for the district.
