The official statistician of the American Association, Pointstreak, has selected ElPaso RHP Scott Hodsdon as the Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week.
Hodson earned the honor over 2 wins and 16 innings pitched. Hodson won both his starts against Laredo and Sioux City and allowed just one earned run in the process. The right-hander in his second season with the Diablos held the Lemurs to one earned run (three total) over seven innings before going the distance against the Explorers in an 8-0 shutout. In his shutout performance, Hodson struck out six men and surrendered seven hits. Hodsdon has now thrown 35 innings over his last four starts, each of them Diablos victories. His third complete game puts him in a tie for fifth in that category in the American Association.
This season, Hodsdon is pitching 3.53 ERA in 112.1 innings pitched, with 63 strike outs, 34 walks and 8 wins for the Diablos.
The Diablos (38-39) are one game under .500 for the first time since beginning the season 1-2 and now head on the road for an eight-game trip against Wichita and Grand Prairie, the latter being the current South Division leaders, with the Diablos 4 games back. The Diablos will be back at Cohen Stadium August 21-23, for a three-game home stand against the Wichita Wingnuts.
