EL PASO — The driver of a pickup truck lost control and hit a striping contractor working along Alameda early Thursday morning.
The wreck happened shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Alameda near Riverside Dr. in the Lower Valley.
According to Blanca Del Valle, TX-DOT spokesperson, a contractor with Texas Concrete was striping lanes along Alameda Ave. when the driver of a red pickup truck lost control and hit the worker, then crashed into two electrical poles.
The road worker was not injured. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital. His condition is unknown.
Del Valle said the road worker was following traffic safety protocols when the accident occured.
El Paso Police shut down a portion of Alameda Ave. because of downed live electrical wires, but was later reopened.
