EL PASO — Funeral services will be held Wednesday for five members of the same family who were killed in a tragic car accident near Fabens.
Bryleigh Barnes, 22-month-old, is one of three survivors in the crash. Her twin sister, Bethanie died in the accident.
Five other members of the Barnes family were killed in the crash including Candace Barnes, 48, Brittney Barnes, 25, Caiden Barnes, 4, and Aaron Arenas, 5.
The Barnes family was returning home from a family trip on Monday, July 30 when they had a tire blowout. Their vehicle rolled into oncoming traffic, then was hit by a semi-truck.
Faith Torres, a family friend who was in the minivan, was treated for injuries and was released from the hospital.
Jessica Barnes, 12, suffered serious injuries in the crash. Kirk Patterson, a family friend, said Jessica is recovering.
"She is now out of the pediatric intensive care unit. She has been moved down to a regular floor and she got her first full shower. She actually walked by herself with a walker a little bit," said Patterson.
Services for the Barnes family will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the McCombs Baptist Church located at 10601 McCombs St. in Northeast El Paso.
