EL PASO — The El Paso Fire Department has received a big award. The department is now internationally accredited. That means the department consistently meeting top industry standards and department goals. Only 154 out of 33,000 fire departments in the U.S. have received the prestigious recognition.
"What this really shows is the true service that's provided by the men and women of the El Paso Fire Department, and it should give the city confidence that with this distinction they're getting some of the best services within the U.S.," said El Paso Fire Chief Otto Drozd.
El Paso is one of only three metro sized departments in the U.S. to be internationally accredited.
