EL PASO — More adult children than ever are living with their parents and a recent study said El Paso is actually one of the top cities in the country where this is happening.
El Paso ranked 8th on the businessinsider.com list of having the most live-in adults.
"He's there because he loves to be there," said Lulu Quintana.
According to businessinsider.com, 28 percent of adults in El Paso live with their parents. One reason might be their social status.
The median income for young adults is $14,000. Seven percent of them are unemployed and 52 percent of them are not married.
Quintana said she believes it has something to do with the culture in El Paso.
"The Hispanic community here is so large. I think it's something that comes from way back from our ancestors. I didn't leave my house until I got married," said Quintana.
She's one mom that isn't complaining.
"I love having him home because he's the one that turns on the music and has all these stories and things to talk about," said Quintana.
Though she enjoys the time, Quintana said her son does not plan on staying much longer.
“He's thinking about it now, he's saving his money, he's looking at his options and trying to see if he can find a roommate,” said Quintana.
Her son does work, but Quintana said moving out will bring some additional life lessons.
"He needs to get out and learn what it's like to live on your own, pay your own bills, wash your own clothes," said Quintana. “My husband and I both think that it'll be best for him to move on and do his own thing on his own. So hopefully this will be the year. So we'll see.”
