Fort Bliss, TX — An afternoon ceremony at Fort Bliss, Texas planned to honor a change in command at the post on Thursday.
Officials said Brig. Gen. James H. Dickinson will assume the duties and responsibilities of commanding general for 32d AAMDC from Brig. Gen. John G. Rossi. During the ceremony, Rossi will also be appointed to the rank of major general.
Dickinson returns to the "Blackjack" command after serving as the commanding general of 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command in Fort Shafter, Hawaii. His has held various positions throughout 32d AAMDC from assistant Operations Officer in Charge to Chief of Staff. In addition to numerous air defense artillery leadership positions. Dickinson has also served as Senior Operations Officer, Directorate for Operations, J3, National Military Command Center, Joint Staff and as Deputy Director for Operations, National Joint Operations and Intelligence Center, J3.
The Blackjack Command consists of nearly 10,000 Soldiers and is the Army's largest active duty air defense command. The command is comprised of four brigades and 13 battalions located on six different installations in the continental United States.
Rossi's next assignment will be director of the Quadrennial Defense Review in Washington, D.C.
