Police Searching For Driver of Second Vehicle
EL PASO — A man was killed when he was hit by two cars as he tried to cross the street along Alameda Dr. in the Lower Valley.
According to police, the victim tried to cross four lanes of traffic at about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday when he was hit by a Ford Mustang driven by Gerardo Porras, 21.
Porras stopped to help, but investigators said that is when another vehicle drove by and ran over the man again. The driver of the second vehicle fled the scene.
Investigators determined that Porras was not speeding, and alcohol is also not considered to be a factor. Police believe low visibility along the dark stretch of road might have contributed to the crash.
The victim was not using a crosswalk. Investigators have not determined if he was under the influence of alcohol. Police have not released the victim's name. He is described as a 40-year-old Hispanic man.
If you have any information regarding the second vehicle that hit the victim, call El Paso Police at (915) 832-4400, or call Crime Stoppers at (915) 546-TIPS (8477).
