El Paso, TX — A startling statistic from Highway Safety officials shows that traffic deaths nation-wide jumped in the first three months of this year, over the same period in 2011.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says just more than 7600 people died in traffic accidents in the first quarter of 2012. That's a 13.5% climb over the year before. Officials with the NHTSA say it's now investigating what causes might have led to the increase.
