El Paso - The jobless rate in El Paso took a leap last month.
9.9% of the workforce was out of a job in January.
That is 7-tenths of a percentage point higher than the month before.
The Texas seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 8.2 percent in January, unchanged from a revised 8.2 percent in December 2009, and continued to trend well below the U.S. seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 9.7 percent.
In January, Amarillo reported lowest unemployment rate in the state at 6.0 percent followed by Lubbock and Midland, both with 6.2 percent.
