Miner merchandise is flying off the shelves at the UTEP bookstore, especially anything related to basketball.
“The jerseys, UTEP basketball t-shirts, and I'm sure another huge one will be the Conference USA t-shirt that we'll be getting later on today," said store director Fernando Padula.
Business has been booming mainly because of the men's basketball team's 13-game winning streak and now their first outright Conference USA championship.
"It's great to see people from the community coming in to the store. We usually serve students but with the team winning more, more people coming to see us," said Padula.
All over campus the buzz was also about basketball and UTEP's win over Marshall.
It was all students seemed to be talking about Wednesday afternoon.
"I'm really excited for them! It's always good to put El Paso on the map. Last night on sports center Randy Culpepper dunking was one of the top ten plays," said students and Miner fan Rudy Melendez.
Fellow student Ian McDowell felt the same, saying, "you see your team in the rankings you tell everyone you're from that school and you're part of something."
The UTEP basketball team's home game this Saturday is already sold out.
