El Paso, TX — 300 Fort Bliss soldiers returned home from Afghanistan today.
The soldiers are part of the 'bulldog' brigade that deployed from Fort Bliss in September 2011. During their 10-month deployment...the bulldog soldiers partnered and worked with Afghanistan national security forces to teach, coach, and mentor afghan soldiers and police.
"I couldn't sleep last night and all the planes that keep coming through, I keep thinking it's him. It's just a tease. I'm just ready for him to come home," said Rachel Smith, a military spouse.
More than 230 soldiers in this brigade,were wounded in action by enemy forces and earned the purple heart medal.
Also, more than 35 soldiers earned awards for valor during the deployment.
