EL PASO - Hundreds of smiling students are showing off their new backpacks today.
The Greater El Paso Association of Realtors and the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso loaded up hundreds of backpacks with school supplies for needy students in the area.
This is the first year the back to school supply drive is giving away backpacks, ensuring every child has the tools to tackle their classes.
"It makes the feel bad and we just want to boost their ego, boost their morale And make the understand that people out here care for them," Al Jurado from the Back to School Supply Drive for Low-Income Children.
More than 1,000 students showed up for school supplies today.
If you want to help needy families, volunteers say you can go pick up a few backpacks, fill them up and take them to local schools to make sure every child has what they need for the school year.
