Former UTEP and New Mexico St. football coach, Hal Mumme, is back in town this week helping with the Sonny Detmer Football and Quarterback camp in Canutillo. Mumme is hosting a coach’s clinic all three days, Thursday Friday and Saturday as well (before the evening camp gets going each day). He’s calling it “Hal Mumme’s How To Install the Air Raid Offense In Three Days.”
All coaches will be bringing leading tips and techniques to improve your game, no matter what position you play. Enrollment fee is $65 per camper for the three-day camp. Pre-registration is encouraged, but registration also will be accepted on site. All campers will receive a camp T-shirt from Russell Athletic. Also, new this year is the site and time of the annual camp. This year’s camp will be held at Canutillo High School and will take place in the evening, with some sessions under the lights. The young age group players will be on the field from 4 to 5:30p.m. The freshmen-sophomore group will be on the field from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The junior-senior group will be on the field from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

from 7:30-10 p.m.
This season, Mumme’s team, McMurry University, set an NCAA record for total offense in a game with 848 yards against Texas Lutheran. McMurry is an NCAA Division III school, but they set another record when they beat UTSA, now a D-I school, 24-21.
