SANTA TERESA, N.M. — UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 82-year-old Rita Granillo.
A crash kills one and injures another in Santa Teresa earlier Saturday.
The accident happened at the intersection of Mcnutt and NM 136 when an 18-wheeler, heading east, collided into the passenger side of a west-bound van making a left turn.
Police have not yet determined who was at fault in the crash... which killed the van's female passenger.
"The van did try to make a left turn in front of the commercial motor vehicle. The motor vehicle continued through the intersection at that time and T-boned the passenger side of the van. There is one deceased who's a passenger and the driver, the other occupant of the van, was airlifted to El Paso for treatment," said Sgt. James Frietze.
The driver of the big rig did not get hurt in the accident... which remains under investigation.
Police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a factor.
