Rick Parr is a former El Pasoan and long time General Manager/Part-Owner of the Diablos. Now he runs the Reno Aces, a member of the Pacific Coast League. With the announcement that the PCL has requested a Preliminary Application Review from the MountainStar Sports Group attempting to purchase a Triple-A team, Parr feels very optimistic the Sun City will be a member of the League soon and he could not be happier.
"I'm just hopeful that El Paso will be part of this whole thing. I've always liked El Paso. I've lived there, worked there, and great people, great community. It looks to me to be an absolutely incredible game plan. I would like nothing more than to see that happen. It will be a quality of life issue that would truly help El Paso in a big way," said Parr.
The PCL said they will have an answer to the application within the next 30 days. Parr says if approved, it would go to a vote of League owners and directors shortly after. If the owners and directors vote in favor of the proposal, the MountainStar Sports Group will then be cleared to purchase a team from the PCL, most likely the Tucson Padres.
