El Paso, TX — Sipping your daily cups of coffee could benefit your heart but it depends on how much you drink.
A new study by the American Heart Association suggests that drinking two 8-ounce cups of coffee a day gives people an 11% lower risk of developing heart failure. That's compared to people who don't drink any at all.
The study's authors say they think coffee lowers the risk for diabetes which in turn lowers the risk for heart failure. However, they do say drinking four cups a day seems to weaken the protection and five cups or more could harm you.
