El Paso, TX — Crews rescue a hiker in the Mckelligon canyon this morning.
The call came into the El Paso Fire Department just after 9 a.m., when a 20 yr. Old woman became weak, struggling to breathe, as she hiked with her family.
The combined search and rescue team reportedly found the hikers about a mile up a trail, where they treated the woman with oxygen and IV fluid. The fire department has some tips to keep you safe if you decide to take a hike.
"Don't ever hike alone. Always make sure to have communication. Bring plenty of fluids. Get dressed for the hike. Don't come out in shorts and everything. Get good shoes on and be dressed for hiking,” said El Paso Fire Department Chief Ramon Balenica.
The woman, who has a history of asthma, managed to walk down the trail after receiving treatment.
