EL PASO — A man living and working near an auto salvage yard off W. Picacho Avenue died from injuries caused by a horse, an autopsy concluded.
The body of 45-year-old Leonardo Tena was found by co-workers last Tuesday morning near a horse corral that was next to the trailer where he lived.
The Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department began investigating the case as a suspicious death, but the University of New Mexico Office of the Medical Examiner concluded Tena died from “blunt force trauma to the head.” Several hoof marks found on Tena’s chest also likely contributed to his death, noted the autopsy.
Investigators say there were no signs of foul play. Tena originally was from Mexico.
