The Mexican National team was hanging on by a thread, and scored after Bosnia gave the ball away and could not clear, Javier "El Chicarito" Hernandez scored in the 90th minute for a 2-1 victory at Chicago's Soldier Field. It was a sloppy game, with rain nearly the entire contest.
In El Paso, Sergio Villasenor and Ernesto Bolivar became the first Patriots to score three goals this season while team captain Enrique Cervantes notched his second as El Paso dominated the Texas Dutch Lions, 3-0.
Thursday's match marked the first time the Patriots have scored three times in a Premier Development League game this season.
Though El Paso racked up three goals against North Texas Rayados in its first round game in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Thursday's display puts the Patriots (3-2-2, 11 points) a point away from first place Austin (4-1-0, 12 points) in a rapidly-tightening Mid-South Division.
Last season's PDL runners-up, the Laredo Heat (2-1-0, 6 points), have only played three games going into the weekend, while El Paso has played at least twice more than anyone else in the Mid-South, so the points become that much more valuable.
