EL PASO, TX — A woman had to be rescued after falling while she was hiking in McKelligon Canyon Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters said the 45-year-old fell about 30 yards down an embankment and hit her head just before 1 p.m.
Crews brought the woman down the mountain at about 3:30 p.m.
The fire department said people should be prepared before they go hiking.
"You should never hike alone... always hike with a partner. Also make sure that people... know exactly where you're at. Have communication available... Make sure to take enough water and make sure you're dressed for the weather," said Ramon Valencia with the El Paso Fire Department.
The woman was treated for dehydration and non-life threatening injuries before being taken to the hospital.
