LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Hundreds attended the first day of the Southern New Mexico Wine Festival just outside of Las Cruces on Saturday.
The festival features wines from 17 different wineries in New Mexico.
"It's awesome to taste so many different wines from just New Mexico, said Stephanie Park. "It's just amazing there's so many wineries from New Mexico."
For wine tasters, it’s the wines that are unique to the region that make festival unique.
"You hear wines like green chile and pistachio and you wouldn't buy those out of the blue, but if you get to try them then you're actually like wow this pretty good wine," said Nick Alwan.
The festival runs til Memorial Day from noon to 6 p.m.
