Poptun, Guatemala — A new elite commando force in Guatemala is being deployed to the country's border with Mexico to combat drug traffickers.
The unit will operate mostly in Northern Guatemala and plans to be fully engaged by the end of June.
At their training base the commandos or kaibiles as they're called, work on urban combat as well as jungle warfare.
Last year the Mexican drug gang, the Zetas, beheaded 27 farm workers in Northern Guatemala in a dispute with the farm's owner.
