EL PASO -- Tickets for the much anticipated June 16th fight at the Sun Bowl officially went on sale Saturday morning.
The fight between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Andy Lee was canceled at one point because of security concerns. Fans who bought tickets Saturday were glad to still have the fight in El Paso.
"We're a boxing community this is something we love to watch," said Isaac Heredia.
He and his friend Ricardo Paez bought eleven tickets for friends and family coming in from out of town.
Both fight fans were glad to have the fight stay in El Paso.
Heredia even called the chancellor's officer in Austin after the fight was initially canceled.
"I let them know the frustration I had with the cancellation of the fight," Heredia said. "I felt it gave us a black eye."
Those calls and letters from local city leaders convinced the chancellor to reverse his decision.
The city then approved a half a million dollars to sponsor the fight keeping it in the Sun City.
Tickets ranges from $25 - $200.
