EL PASO — El Paso native Adair Lion, a lyricist and producer with self-made label Above the Notes Entertainment sent a powerful message to the hip hop industry: "Being gay is okay." His youtube video received national attention.
Adair, who raps that he initially felt inhibited to speak openly and positively about homosexuality, said it was a friend in college that made him change his perspective about the subject. In an exclusive interview with NewsChannel 9, Adair admitted that bringing to light the non-acceptance of being gay was something that needed to be done, despite the risk of putting his music career on "hip hop suicide."
