The University of New Mexico Office of the Medical Examiner confirmed the body found near Chaparral is Hector Gardea, 66.
Gardea's daughters reported him missing in March after they had not heard from him in several days.
Doña Ana Sheriff investigators were assisting with the search when Gardea's body was found last week.
A cause of death has not been determined. Investigators said they did not find any evidence of foul play.
Toxicology reports are pending.
