LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Several area community centers will partner with local health agencies this month to promote children’s wellness as part of the 7th annual Dia del Niño. Parents and guardians are invited to bring their children to any of six Doña Ana County community resource centers between April 12 and April 28 to learn more about how to protect and improve their health and safety, and to participate in several planned activities.
The event is coordinated though the Doña Ana County Health and Human Services Department and the AmeriCorps VISTA program. Dia del Niño was created by UNICEF to promote the health and wellness of children and designated April 30 as Dia del Niño, or “Day of the Child.”
Providers participating in this year’s event include the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department, Doña Ana County Fire and Emergency Services, Molina Healthcare, La Clinica de Familia, La Piñon, Community Action Agency, Families and Youth, Inc., AVANCE, Ben Archer Health Clinic, Head Start, and others.
