El Paso is one step closer to alleviating bridge wait times.
City leaders today gave the okay to a ports of entry task force.
The goal is to come up with ideas to make border traffic move quickly and efficiently.
The task force is made up of dozens of agencies including the Juarez mayor's office and even the maquila industry.
"It might have a negative impact on the maquila industry or on the transporters themselves and the solutions that the transporters and the maquila come up with might have a negative impact on customs and border protection," Mayor John Cook said.
Mayor Cook says he hopes to have recommendations from agencies in the next 30 days.
