Former El Dorado Aztec receiver impressed his Texas Longhorn coaches on Sunday after a 48-yard reception as tight end for the Longhorns. McFarland redshirted last year, and is just a freshman on the football team. According to coaches, McFarland used that year to learn the system and add weight in the weight room.
Texas Offensive Coordinator Brian Harsin spoke to the media about McFarland. "I think he has been a nice surprise this spring, as far as where he is at and the plays that he has made, it's not perfect by any means, but he continues to come to practice with an attitude to improve, and we appreciate that, so that is a big part of why guys continue to get better because they have that mentality and he's a prime example of it."
