EL PASO--- The Girl Scouts of El Paso are hoping a box of their cookies will urge people donate blood and save a life.
The girl scouts were giving away a free box of cookies to everyone who donated a pint of blood this afternoon at Cielo Vista Mall.
People we spoke with said while the treat was nice, it's not why they donated it.
"To me it's important because one of these days my family members needs the blood, I know it's going to be there," said Shirley Rubio.
"There are many kids, teens and old people that really need the blood, and some of us are healthy enough to donate it. So I think it's really important," said Alejandra Silva.
The girl scouts aren't done yet, they'll hold their last blood drive again Saturday, March 6th, at the El Paso Outlet Shoppes.
For more information on the drive please call 544-5422 ext. 164 or go to www.UnitedBloodServices.org .
