EL PASO — The Super Cocina Express in northeast El Paso was the target of a robbery Wednesday afternoon. Police arrested 25-year-old Fransisco Calzada who allegedly entered the restaurant, demanded money from the register and threatened an employee.
Calzada then grabbed the cash register from the counter and fled the store in a black Chrysler 300. A K-9 police unit spotted the suspect driving and initiated a traffic stop in which he fled. He was apprehended shortly thereafter when his vehicle crashed at San Jose and Yarbrough.
Upon Calzada's arrest for robbery and evading arrest, further investigation revealed the was in possession of prescription drug Xanax and cocaine. He was also found to have outstanding warrants for DWI, Family Violence, Resisting Arrest and multiple court warrants.
The cash register was recovered.
