Senior Zachery Fullerton won his second straight tournament of the spring season at the Rice intercollegiate, carding a three-round score of 6-under par, 210 (68-74-68), recording the third lowest round score in tournament history. Fullerton won the tournament after defeating Eric Chun of Northwestern on the third playoff of sudden death. He shot a 4-under par, 68 in the final round with four birdies.
As a team, the Aggies were 23-over par, 887 (293-304-290) with a team best 2-over par, 290 in the final round of play. NM State finished 10th overall.
Junior Justin Shin fired his lowest round of the tournament with a 1-over par, 73, collecting two birdies on the day. He finished the tournament at 7-over par, 223 (75-75-73), placing tied for 38th. Senior Gaston De La Torre also shot a 1-over par, 73 in the final round and placed tied for 52nd overall after a three round score of 10-over par, 226 (77-76-73).
Freshman Brett Walker was 13-over par, 229 (74-79-76), tying for 61st. In the final round, Walker was 4-over par, 76 with a birdie. Junior Derek Baade struggled in the final round with a 9-over par, 81. He was 20-over par, 236 (76-79-81) for the tournament, placing in a tie for 73rd.
Simon Miller, who competed in the tournament as an individual shot a three-round score of 20-over par, 236 (79-73-84), placing in a tie for 73rd.
Northwestern took the team title at 2-under par, 862, followed by Houston (+2), Florida Gulf Coast (+8), Wichita State (+10) and UTSA (+11).
The Aggies will be back in action on March 9-11 at the Southern Highland Golf Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev.
