ANTHONY, Texas - The mayor of Anthony, Texas has responded to a search of his home by the F.B.I. and Texas Rangers.
"I feel confident that I haven't done anything wrong that I can justify what they're investigating," said Mayor Art Franco. "We're working, we're moving forward and this is not going to affect that and I feel confident that when everything is finished everything is going to be ok."
Franco was served the warrant Tuesday. Authorities seized several items, some of which turned out to be documents. Franco tells us the search was part of an investigation that started last April. He thinks it is politically motivated.
Some Anthony residents speculated that the investigation was related to misappropriation of funds and credit card abuse.
