EL PASO - City inspectors will be investigating the cell phone tower involved in yesterday's freak accident that landed an el Paso man in the hospital.
The cell phone tower was designed to look like a palm tree.
Yesterday's winds knocked off one of its branches, causing it to slice into the man's windshield and cut his head.
T-Mobile, the owner of the tower says the site received all new palm prawns in 2010 - after city council approved the design in 2007.
A neighbor told us this isn't the first time this has happened, but Representative Susie Byrd says any recurring issues will be addressed.
"A cell phone tower should not present a danger to the community if this one is presenting a danger I'll work with the city inspectors to make sure it doesn't in the future," Byrd said.
T-Mobile says it will inspect the tower before putting it back into service.
We'll continue to follow this story with representative Byrd to find out what city inspectors say.
